Girl Eat World Season 1 – TV Season Review

This show really showed that the culinary and food world is not only run by men. This food show had a South African MasterChef winner as a presenter, who goes to different cities and experiences their cultures and food. She meets all these different food bloggers, like herself, that have passion and dedication to their cities food and dining industry.

This docu-series was very entertaining and really showed me that anyone can do something they put their mind to. It really showed me how devoted to food the presenter is and how much of a great cook she is. Her use of vocabulary to describe the food and her use of skills in the kitchen really showed. In my opinion, she was a very good presenter and host.

Overall, I would recommend this show to anyone and would rate it a 9 out of 10.

Kevin Nealon: Whelmed, but not Overly – Stand Up Comedy review

This show was very funny and the performer had great stage presence. He also knew his act very well and had obviously prepared it many a time before. This movie shows just how much of a well known comedian Kevin Nealon is with his mixed collection of interesting tales and comedic story lines. He also uses some very quick and witty tags that keep him known the world around. I think people who experienced this show live will leave with a great understanding that he has the delivery and power to make anyone laugh. Comedy is mostly about timing and Kevin Nealon knows where to use a punchline when, which is a very good quality for a comedian.

Overall this stand up was very funny, and I would recommend it to everyone. I would rate this stand up an 8 out of 10 for originality, wit, and complexity.

Time Zero: The Last Year of Polaroid Film – Documentary Review

This movie showed just how much of an impact the Polaroid instant film product has made on the world. This movie chronicles the life and times of the Polaroid photography company and how people are still using the product today after the company disbanded. This movie shows interviews with Polaroid photographers and inventors to show just how important the invention of instant film made on the world. This movie really showed just how important analog instant film is to the historical photography timeline.

This movie also mentioned of a new business that has been set up to revive all old Polaroid film and cameras called the impossible project. Online this company sells film and cameras to the new and old clientele who want to still use instant film.

This movie really was inspiring and very educational. I would recommend this movie to all documentary lovers, and would rate it a 9 out of 10.

The One I Love – Movie Review

This movie was very different and was a well thought out movie with ever-changing twists and turns. This comedy was very well acted and written, and there was just the right amount of time for what the movie was trying to show. This movie could at times be confusing and jump a bit, but it was understandable for what it was trying to display.

This film shows how a married couple end up going on a retreat to help spice up their relationship, aided by the recommendation of their therapist. They find out that when they enter the guest room, another person who looks like them is in there but it isn’t their partner. After a while of trying to understand what is going on, they decide to share there time with the other “lookalike” from the opposite sex. Soon the other two people end up showing up in the main house, and after a whole host of complicated arguments and fights, the end of the movie is interesting and very clever.

I would recommend this movie for anyone who likes a movie that is complex, yet captivating. There are romantic and funny scenes, but overall this movie is meant to test the viewer and send them a message. Overall, I would rate this movie a 7 out of 10.

What’s Eating Gilbert Grape? – movie review

This classic movie was a hit when it came about and is very evident with some great acting, and superb writing and directing. This movie stars a young Leonardo DiCaprio and a young Johnny Depp. Their skills in acting in this movie really show that even at their young ages they are skilled and experts. Personally Leonardo DiCaprio played the role of the mentally and physically disabled young adult very well.

The movie was based on a book. It tells the story of a rural family who live with and serve their mother. Leonardo plays a disabled teen turning 18. Johnny Depp plays an older brother who works at the grocery store. There are also two other sisters. The story tells the adventures and times of the family. Many interesting feats occur during this movie, but I wouldn’t want to spoil the film for you.

I would recommend checking this movie out, even though it is kinda long for what it is. It is the start of two legendary actors lengthy careers. I would give this movie an 8 out of 10.

See No Evil, Hear No Evil – Movie Review

This movie was very hilarious, even though at times I felt guilty for laughing. As everyone who has probably watched this movie know this is the classic comedy with Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder. Richard Pryor plays a blind guy, and Gene Wilder plays a deaf guy. Between them they try to catch a villain team and put them behind bars. Through the laugh out loud funny scenarios that happen in this movie based around their disabilities was great, yet at times I feel kinda bad about laughing.

Even though this movie was cheesy, kind of offensive, I still think it was very funny. I would rate this movie an 8 out of 10.

The First Grader – Movie Review

This movie, based on true events, was one of the best and most inspiring movies I have seen in a long time. The movie is based on an elderly man who suffered through the purgatory of trying to gain independence for Kenya from the British Empire. He decides to go back to elementary school when everybody who has a birth certificate can get free education. So he tries to gain admittance into the school, failing a few times and then got accepted. Through his efforts he was able to get the head teacher back, gain himself the ability to read and write, and learn that he had been given commission from the government for suffering torture in the British camps.

This movie was very well directed, edited, and had some great acting. The camera work was spectacular. The way this movie told the story of this man was incredible. I would definitely watch this movie again, and maybe even cry again.

I recommend this movie to everyone. I would rate this movie an 11 out of 10 and say all people should watch this. However, be prepared for an emotional and inspirational movie…
