The First Grader – Movie Review

This movie, based on true events, was one of the best and most inspiring movies I have seen in a long time. The movie is based on an elderly man who suffered through the purgatory of trying to gain independence for Kenya from the British Empire. He decides to go back to elementary school when everybody who has a birth certificate can get free education. So he tries to gain admittance into the school, failing a few times and then got accepted. Through his efforts he was able to get the head teacher back, gain himself the ability to read and write, and learn that he had been given commission from the government for suffering torture in the British camps.

This movie was very well directed, edited, and had some great acting. The camera work was spectacular. The way this movie told the story of this man was incredible. I would definitely watch this movie again, and maybe even cry again.

I recommend this movie to everyone. I would rate this movie an 11 out of 10 and say all people should watch this. However, be prepared for an emotional and inspirational movie…

Russell Brand: Messiah Complex – Stand Up Review

This stand-up was very well directed and performed. Russell Brand was back to his grotesque sexual humor and well-spoken language skills. The way this stand-up was setup was slightly different, he was introducing how 4 leaders were like himself and how they helped mold the world into a better place during their time as leaders. This movie really shows that Russell has matured into a more rounded comedian. He has changed his stage presence and act to coincide with the ever-changing audience. This movie shows me that he is daring enough to change up his stand-up and try to make an impact in the world, like the leaders he chose did.

Overall I would recommend this to anyone interested in stand-up, and would rate it an 8 out of 10.
