Wolfcop – Movie Review

This has to be one of my favorite B-rated horror movies I have ever seen, also considering I don’t watch many B-rated horror movies. But this movie was funny, well directed, well acted, and very cheesy.

The story is about a cop who gets turned into a werewolf at night by shapeshifters who take peoples souls from this small town, and have done for many years. The story has some really great parts, with some great lines, and some great makeup/effects work.

This movie has to be one of my favorite horror movies I have watched in a long time. I would have to rate this movie a 9 out of 10, and would recommend it to anyone who is in the mood for a fun horror movie.

P.S. There is a Wolfcop 2 coming out this year…stay tuned for that!

K2: Siren of the Himalayas – Documentary Review

This movie is a really good representation of a group of climbers who aim to climb probably the most difficult mountain in the world. Even though not the tallest, it is the most difficult.

This movie chronicles a group’s aim at trying to reach the summit. This movie also uses footage from a famous achieved climb to the summit from 100 years ago. The disasters that happen all the time at K2 are incredible, because the terrain and weather is so difficult to handle.

This movie shows the passion of the climbers, their determination, and their love for the sport. This documentary is really worth a watch. I would rate this movie an 8 out of 10.

Bad Ass 2: Bad Asses – Movie Review

The sequel to Bad Ass and its original are one of my favorite fighting movies. They are funny, serious, and entertaining all in one. These movies are two of the best indie, cult movies I have ever seen. After the first one was made it became an instant Netflix cult movie.

The first one tells the story of an older man whose videos went viral of him beating up two thugs on a bus, soon he has to find out who killed his friend in his area. The second one he sets up a boxing ring, where some of the kids who practice there are also drug dealers on the side; one of his dearly beloved students is killed by higher up people in his drug world. Then he decides to find out who killed one of his boxing kids and finally kill him in return. In this movie he also has a sidekick in Danny Glover’s character.

The sequel is so great, yet cheesy. But is cheesy for so many good reasons. Also, in this movie, things seem to always go right, which isn’t bad, but is just an observation. I would rate this movie a 9.5 out of 10.

All This Mayhem – Documentary Review

This Australian documentary about the Pappas skateboarding brothers chronicles their rise to fame and fortune, and their fall from fame and fortune. The Pappas brothers were once one of the best skateboarders in the world, before drugs and mad-spending took their fame away from them.

This movie chronicles their lives from youngsters up until present day. Ben Pappas was the elder of the two brothers, and after leaving USA after being kicked out of a skateboarding group, he returns to Australia and gets convicted of having a small amount of cocaine in his shoe, the catalyst that causes him and his brothers downfall. Soon after Ben meets a woman who he then ends up doing lots of drugs with. Finally he ends up murdering this woman and subsequently commits suicide. Tas ends up returning to Australia not long after and after a mismatch of jail sentences for multiple things, finally settles down with a wife.

This was a great movie, one I would really recommend to sport and skateboarding fans. I would rate this movie a 9 out of 10.

Atari: Game Over – Documentary Review

This movie chronicles the story of Atari and Atari’s subsequent downfall, and its aftermath. Atari is a renowned company known in the world for starting the video game industry. Without Atari the video game industry wouldn’t be where it is today.

This documentary shows us that if you rush a video game, specifically Atari’s ET, it can cause drastic repercussions. Known in the world as the worst game ever made, Atari’s ET game for the movie was the catalyst for the downfall of one of home entertainment’s most important company’s at the time.

The way the film was directed, produced, edited, etc was amazing. This movie had a great subject and superb contributors. It also had an amazing running theme that they were going to try and excavate the Atari games that had been dug into a landfill decades ago in New Mexico. Overall I would definitely give this movie a 10 out of 10.

Rescue Dawn – Movie Review

Just finished watching this movie today, and it was so well directed and written. I was really impressed.

This movie is set during the beginning of the Vietnam War, and is based on a true story. A fighter pilot’s plane crashes over Laos and he gets by Laotians. After being put into a camp with other prisoners, they all become agitated and hatch a plane to escape. In the end, himself and his friend end up escaping. And after a long journey, a helicopter finally picks him up by himself. (His friend was killed during the journey.) When he gets back everyone is over the moon.

This movie is one of the best stories I have watched turned into a movie. Even though I think the movie could have been edited a bit more, and not be so long, I really enjoyed it. I would rate this movie a 9 out of 10.

Noobz – Movie Review

This independent comedy is about video gaming competitions. The basis of the movie is this competition in California that three adults and one teen compete in to win a chance at a huge cash prize.

The movie is funny, and well acted. However, the writing and directing is not very well done. But for an indie comedy it works pretty well. I really enjoyed it because it speaks to me as a gamer. The comedy and tone of the movie did hold together quite well. The actors chosen for the movie were excellent decisions.

I recommend this movie to any avid video gamer. I would rate this movie a 6 out of 10 overall.

Billy Madison – Movie Review

I decided to watch this movie last night with my brother on holiday in Florida. I found it very entertaining and a great movie to watch with your family. This movie is silly yet very well acted by Adam Sandler. Even though the movie is at times really cheesy and kinda badly written.

The story is of a rich son of a multi-millionaire father who owns a huge hotel empire. The son has to, in order to inherit his fathers hotel business, go through all 12 grades of elementary, middle, and high school because he didn’t graduate the first time. After trying the first time, his arch enemy ends up trying to manipulate people into lying about his character in order to win the company. Then he has to complete a education competition with his arch enemy, which ends horribly wrong. He then finally finishes high school and ends up not getting the business because he wants to become a teacher.

Overall, this movie is great for a small family movie, but not very good for anything. The plot is minimal, the concept is simple, the acting is pretty good, the silliness is off the charts. However this movie actually hits all the factors needed for a comedy movie night. I would give this movie an overall rating of 6 out of 10.

Our Vinyl Weighs a Tonne: This is Stones Throw Records – Documentary Review

A few days ago, I finished watching this documentary about the independent record label Stones Throw Records, who have been a record label since the 80s and are still going strong. The movie chronicles the life of the label through the owner “Peanut Butter Wolf” and multiple guest stars including Common and Kanye West. The story tells the life of “Peanut Butter Wolf”, from his start as one part of a rap duo. When his rap partner dies “Peanut Butter Wolf” tries to send the pre-recorded music to multiple record labels with no response. Consequently, he sets up his own label to release the music. Then after a few years gains more popularity and more artists to the label. Soon the label gains lots of popularity and multiple artists, making them a very well independent label for all kinds of music. However, having a major focus in rap and RnB.

This movie was very well chronicled, directed, and edited. I really enjoyed learning about this record label from their starting years to their present. I really found “Peanut Butter Wolf” a very admiring and clever man. Overall I would give this movie an 8 out of 10.

Who the F**k is Arthur Fogel? – Documentary Review

This movie was a very well directed chronology of a famous music businessman called Arthur Fogel. Arthur is the leading member for tour organizing and managing in the world. He has made is way up in the ranks, through some tough times and hard jobs. But the movie shows us that he has been so inspirational and helpful to multiple artists, including U2, Lady Gaga, and The Police. His long and continuous career really shows how he has affected these artists.

This documentary was definitely well written, produced, and directed. It also had a great focus point, and meaningful message. I give this movie an overall rating of 7 out of 10.
