Catfish – Movie Review

After waiting forever to watch this movie that started the MTV TV show, I was finally able to. This movie was well worth watching. An independent docu-reality movie about the long distance relationship of a man with a “family”. This movie shows a man being manipulated by a middle aged woman into believing he is talking to three different people from a big family. This documentary about a friendship that goes horribly wrong. The filmmakers soon decide to go find out if this friendship is really what it seems.

This movie is very well documented, filmed, and developed. I really think this is a very modern movie, and I would rate it at 9 out of 10. I would recommend it to all.

Barefoot – Movie Review

This movie was beautiful and definitely worth watching. It follows a man who is a failure, owes money because of gambling, and ends up having to do community service as a janitor at a psychiatric hospital because he gets in trouble. He meets an inmate who decides to run away with him to his brother’s wedding to fake as his girlfriend. After everything falls apart at the wedding they finally get caught by the police on their way back to LA, after falling in love. She is then taken back to the hospital and he is put in jail, soon his dad bails him out of jail. And he has to find a way of getting back to the woman he loves. After a series of stupid ways, everything works out in the end.

This is one of the best comedy’s and love story’s I have ever watched. It was really well written, the acting was great, and it was very impressive for an independent movie. I would give this movie a definite 10 out of 10. Everyone should watch this unknown movie!

Street Food Around The World – TV Show Review

I have quite a lot to say about this TV show because when looking at the comments on Netflix you either found people who loved it or people who hated it. The reason people hate it was mostly because of the presenter, also people who loved it liked the presenter and the way the show was done.

First off this TV show isn’t like most of the travel and food shows you get on Travel Channel or the Food Network. The presenter is a quirky and corny guy, you have been warned. One episode when they went to Paris, he went the whole day wearing a barret (a French hat), which can be seen as a very touristy thing to do. He seems like just an average guy who loves to blog about his love of street food. People say on Netflix that he was rude to the locals, and that he didn’t comment very much on the taste of the food. Personally, I think he wasn’t really rude and you didn’t need as much commenting with this kind of TV show.

I really liked this TV show. It was well filmed, there was great food and the presenter did a pretty good job. He sometimes did get annoying, but it was all in the fun of the show. I would give this show a 9 out of 10, and would recommend it for any food and/or travel enthusiast.

Sunset Strip – Movie Review

This movie was a very laid back way of showing the lives of multiple fictional musicians, artists, creative people during one 24 hour period during the 70s in L.A. California.

I really like at times how this movie portrayed the lifestyle, the characters, and the scenery. They really knew just how to show the 70s to the masses. Hints at future endeavors and themes came up throughout the lines. The way the movie was written showed real passion and desire to make a movie that would speak to the creative people of the world, and show just how important this era was for music and the arts.

This movie cast some amazing actors from their early years in movies, actors such as Jared Leto. This movie was an amazing breakthrough at looking at the past. I would give this movie a 7.5 out of 10, and would recommend it to all the creative people out there.

Five Minutes of Heaven – Movie Review

I was very surprised, for a good reason, by this movie. It showed me just how a terrifying period in history can make such a huge change to the future. It wasn’t a documentary, however it was based around historical events that were happening.

This movie chronicles the story of the fight between Protestants and Catholics in Ireland. The movie focuses on a Northern Irish teenager who shoots this younger Irish boy’s brother in front of him, and ruins his life forever. Skip 30 years and we see the brother and the murderer about to meet up for a special TV broadcasting designed for reconciliation. However, the brother, played by James Nesbitt, bails out at the last minute and leaves the now healed teacher, played by Liam Neeson to try and track him down without any cameras around.

Finally, they decide to meet, and after a huge fight, etc. etc. things get resolved and all becomes well in some way. This movie just shows how good these two actors are at portraying these roles, the acting and the choice of actors was spot on. The camera work, directing, and plot line was also extremely well done. This movie was so well done, I would give it a 10 out of 10, and would recommend it to everyone, especially the dramatic and fast-paced movie lovers.

Rage – Movie Review

I’m gonna start off by saying, this movie is crazy and all over the place with an ever-changing plot. And also, that I have a lot to say about this movie. This movie stars Nicholas Cage as a respected businessman who has a violent past. He was perfect to play the role, his acting was on the ball throughout the movie.

The movie starts off like other gangster type movie. Cheesy/corny instrumental music, stupid one liners, daughter captured, etc. etc. However this movie takes a huge change about half way through, and becomes something entirely different and more serious. Half way through the movie, there is some very good acting and the plot thickens into the twists and turns of the basis of the movie. I don’t want to spoil anything, but I advise you to watch this movie from beginning to end. Yes, I know the beginning third or even half can be same old, same old type, however the ending is worth it. Me, I was almost about to not finish the movie, but I gave it a little longer and it really surprised me. This is one you have to be determined to stick with, and trust me it is worth it, you don’t know what’s coming until right at the end.

To conclude, I was expecting another version of the Taken series, however what I got was a movie that surprised me and kept me guessing. Yes it was slow at first, but it was worth it in the end. I recommend this movie to any action and gangster lovers out there. I would give this movie an overall rating of 8 out of 10.

Pump – Documentary Review

This documentary taught me a lot about the fuel industry, how corrupt it is, and how the future could have been changed so many times in the past. I learned a lot about flex fuel cars and alternative fuel sources, such as methanol, natural gas, and ethanol. This documentary was well written, well narrated, and had some really great interviewees.

This documentary is ground-breaking in trying to resolve the fuel crisis we are now in. Without this movie people would not know about the cars they drive now and the future of cars to come. This world needs change for automobiles especially, and in particular it has to happen here in America. This country is one of the worst countries at emitting greenhouse gases, and we could be so much better and at the for front of improving our climate. Without changing our fuel source or energy that won’t happen.

Anyway besides the rant, this movie was very well made and directed. I would rate it a 9 out of 10, and would recommend it to all documentary lovers out there.

Generation Earth – TV Miniseries

This BBC Earth miniseries is based around the technology advances and improvements man has made to change the world we live in today. With great narration, explanations, and diagrams this movie chronicles different areas that great feats of humanity have changed in this world nowadays. Topics including transportation, infastructure, and medicine were mentioned. This docu-miniseries was really well put together and directed. The filming and narrating was also very well done also. I would rate this show an 8 out of 10. I would recommend it to BBC lovers and avid Netflix watchers.

Crank – Movie Review

I had wanted to watch this movie for so long, and I was definitely not disappointed. I wanted to watch this movie because it starred one of my favorite actors, Jason Statham. This movie was very well crafted, had great acting, and a humorous yet well-written script.

The plot of the movie was basically a hitman is drugged with a Chinese poison and has to find the antidote before he dies, whilst this happens his adrenaline has to stay up or he will die. This is a crazy concept of a movie, but it works, and it works really well. Jason Statham plays an amazing part as the main character. The camera work is really well done, and great for the movie.

I would recommend this movie to anyone. I would give this movie a top ten rating of 9 out of 10. It is oh so nearly perfect. I loved this movie from start to end, it just isn’t so amazing to make a 10 rating.
