See You in Valhalla – Movie Review

This movie chronicles the story of a family after the turmoil of their brother dying after living in their father’s house. He believed in the Viking lifestyle. After seeing their brother die of an overdose, the family come together to see their father and TRY to better the past and the hatchets. However throughout the movie, except near the end, all of the family seems to fight. Until the youngest sister, gets it into the other brothers heads that they need to be more like a family for their dead brother, because that’s what he would have wanted. I believe the ending was well thought out and planned. There were some very funny parts, like the scene with the gay brother’s partner high on mushrooms making an arc.

This moved seemed rushed a bit, however it was well directed, and the cast actually had some familiar faces in it. I really liked that this movie was edited just right and that there were no loose ends at the end of the movie. I just feel like at times it was trying to hard and was kinda flopping between serious and not serious. But overall it was a good movie.

I would recommend this movie, and would give it a 7 out of 10.

The First Grader – Movie Review

This movie, based on true events, was one of the best and most inspiring movies I have seen in a long time. The movie is based on an elderly man who suffered through the purgatory of trying to gain independence for Kenya from the British Empire. He decides to go back to elementary school when everybody who has a birth certificate can get free education. So he tries to gain admittance into the school, failing a few times and then got accepted. Through his efforts he was able to get the head teacher back, gain himself the ability to read and write, and learn that he had been given commission from the government for suffering torture in the British camps.

This movie was very well directed, edited, and had some great acting. The camera work was spectacular. The way this movie told the story of this man was incredible. I would definitely watch this movie again, and maybe even cry again.

I recommend this movie to everyone. I would rate this movie an 11 out of 10 and say all people should watch this. However, be prepared for an emotional and inspirational movie…

Before I Disappear – Movie Review

This movie was amazing, everything was done superbly, great directing, acting, editing, and filming.  This movie didn’t really have any major stars in it, however the acting was the best I have seen in a long time. Before I Disappear really took me by surprise in how well it was written and directed. Everything was perfectly done to make this movie, in my view, a masterpiece.

The movie is about a guy who is suicidal because his girlfriend died, and right before he commits suicide his sister calls to look after her daughter because she is having trouble with the law. He finally gives in and helps her out. Most of the movie is based around the night that the daughter and the uncle have, and how everything goes from bad to good to bad to good again.

This movie was a whirlwind of emotions, with hallucinations, drug overdoses, and parties. I recommend this movie to everyone (yes you too!). I would rate this movie an 11 out of 10.
