Lucy – Movie Review

This movie was unbelievably effective, kept me on the edge of my seat, and even kind of funny. This movie was incredible. I really liked Scarlett Johannson in this movie, she really played the role very well and was a great casting decision. She was serious yet funny and made every scene believable. The action in this movie was none stop. The plot line and writing in this movie was amazing. I don’t think I can find many flaws in this movie.

This movie starts off with a woman delivering a package to an Asian gang. After she delivers it she finds herself drugged with the product inside of the package. Over the course of the next few days she finds herself being able to use more than the regular 10% of your brain humans can use. She keeps increasing in her abilities and percentage until the final scene, which was very epic.

This movie is worth  watching and I would highly recommend it to everyone. I would rate this movie a 10 out of 10.

The Descent and The Descent Part 2 – Movie Review

These two movies were amazing and continued one after the other. The first movie was really the star of the two. The acting wasn’t the greatest, however does acting have to be the best in a horror movie. The suspense, tension, and thrill were all present. The concept for this movie was very interesting, and the whole movie plot worked very well. I believe the second movie could have added more than just more horror.

The plot of this movie starts with the main character out on a trip with her family and friends where her husband dies in a car accident, her daughter is also dead, the movie didn’t specify how, or I didn’t notice how. The movie then moves into the main focus of the show, a caving trip with her friends a year later. Whilst trying to find out a way of the cave, the women find alien/human/ape like creatures that only sense by sound. One by one each of the women is picked off. Leaving the two last women, one getting out safe. Then the second movie that women enters the cave again with a bunch of other cavers and two police members to try and find the women. The woman who got out of the cave at this point has no memory of when she was first in the cave. Soon they find themselves in the same position as the first group of women, fighting for their lives and trying to find an exit. The policewoman manages to get out, but her future doesn’t last. Her demise however is unexpected, yet interesting.

I really enjoyed this movie, and would recommend to everyone who likes suspense and horror. I would rate this movie a 9 out of 10.

Would You Rather? – Movie Review

This horror/thriller movie really showed great character depth, superb directing, and a great cast. The movie is about a female main character who is trying to find money for her brother and herself. Her doctor introduces her to a sadistic millionaire who wants to give her money to partake in a game. However, this game, as she will later find out, is one of survival. The game is set in the style of would you rather and is laid out where each guest takes their turn, and the last one standing is the winner.

This movie was great, it kept me interested the whole movie, it wasn’t boring. The movie showed depth and was edited very well. I really found this movie to be very similar to the Saw franchise in suspense and grabbing the watcher’s attention. I would recommend this movie to any horror/thriller fans, and would rate it a 10 out of 10.

District 9 – Movie Review

The way this movie was setup at first seemed kinda like a movie and mockumentary rolled into one. It had aspects of acting like a documentary and aspects of acting like a movie. There was some great CGI and special effects work in this movie, which was amazingly done. This movie tells the story of a space craft that becomes stationary over Johannesburg with many live malnourished aliens living on it stationary in the air. We as humans decide to take them of the aircraft and place them in an area of South Africa known as District 9. Here now live aliens with some humans. The movie chronicles the story of these aliens, and the story of how a human changing into an alien helped save move the aircraft and get a few aliens back to their homeland. The ending of this movie should have really been a bit better. It ended kind of abruptly and not very well planned out. It kinda left with the audience wanting to know the future… However I would rate this movie an 8 out of 10.

Dead in Tombstone – Movie Review

Starring Danny Trejo, this movie was about a group of villains who steal and kill people during the early times of the West. The time period wasn’t exactly definitely noted, but it seemed like Western/cowboy style. This movie started with a robbery of a town for their gold, but this was all a stick up on Danny Trejo’s character. However, when he goes to hell he makes a deal with the devil that he will kill all the members of his ex gang including his half-brother who killed him for the devil. By the end of the movie all of his ex gang are dead and he becomes the Devil’s outlaw.

This movie was well written, the producing and directing wasn’t that noticeable, however the editing was good. I believe this movie was worth a watch but wasn’t very good. A lot of the way the movie was made seemed not believable or real. I would rate this movie a 6 out of 10.
